Japanese food journalism directly from Japan, in English.

I'm old enough to remember the internet before it was based on social media, advertising and clicks, where websites that looked and felt like Craigslist to use were the norm. Inspired by clean utility and functionality, with the whole design around the simplicity and pleasantness of the reader's experience on the website. Combine these elements with a desire for high quality local everyday content and culinary journalism that's really only available in Japanese, and there's not a whole lot of clear or clean options that can replicate the feel of a nicely curated industry social media feed in English.

In addition to the language and search barriers there is the same signal to noise ratio of garbage food journalism in Japanese that there is in English, and it takes quite a bit of digging just to come up short trying to duplicate a similar chef and industry media intake as a non-Japanese speaker.

This project is an evolving attempt to create that kind of dashboard here for myself and anyone else that happens to be as interested in such niche subject matter, with those principles in mind.
